AN ACT

Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania

Consolidated Statutes, providing for the required recording

3

of interrogations.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated

7

Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:

8

§ 5704.1.  Required recording of interrogations.

9

Custodial and noncustodial interrogations by a law

10

enforcement officer of a person suspected of committing a felony

11

shall be audiotaped with or without the consent of the person

12

who is being interrogated.

13

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
