  SMITH; Senators BAERTSCHIGER JR, BATES, BURDICK, DEVLIN,
  EDWARDS, FERRIOLI, GEORGE, GIROD, KNOPP, KRUSE, MONNES
  ANDERSON, OLSEN, ROBLAN, ROSENBAUM, SHIELDS, THOMSEN, WHITSETT,
  WINTERS, Representatives GOMBERG, WHITSETT

  Whereas Oregon is a state with vast areas in which it is
difficult to obtain medical care; and
  Whereas Oregon is served by nearly 100 general aviation
airports; and
  Whereas the Oregon Wing of Angel Flight West provides air
transportation throughout this state free of charge for medical
and other compelling reasons; and
  Whereas the command pilots of the Oregon Wing of Angel Flight
West donate their flying skills, aircraft and all associated
costs, and in 2012 flew more than 200 missions; and
  Whereas the missions of the Oregon Wing of Angel Flight West
include transporting the people of Oregon, including veterans, to
locations where they can receive medical care, transporting
family members to visit loved ones receiving medical care,
transporting Armed Forces personnel returning home from combat,
transporting human organs and tissues for transplant,
transporting youth to special needs camps and transporting
service animals; and
  Whereas Earth Angel volunteers from the Lions Club of Oregon
partnered with the Oregon Wing of Angel Flight West to provide
connecting ground transportation for 65 missions in 2012; and
  Whereas the volunteer mission coordinator for the Oregon Wing
of Angel Flight West has worked diligently to ensure that command
pilots are provided with all necessary information to ensure that
the missions are conducted efficiently; and
  Whereas outreach volunteers with the Oregon Wing of Angel
Flight West contacted more than 70 social and medical services
organizations in 2012 to ensure that those in need are aware of
the services provided by Angel Flight West; and
  Whereas the media relations coordinator of the Oregon Wing of
Angel Flight West has worked with many Oregon regional media
outlets to ensure that those in need are aware of the services
provided by Angel Flight West; and
  Whereas volunteers providing recruitment, orientation and
mentoring services for the Oregon Wing of Angel Flight West
successfully qualified 22 pilots in 2012 to serve as command
pilots; and
  Whereas the Oregon Wing of Angel Flight West was honored by the
Office of Rural Health with the 2012 Oregon Rural Health Hero of
the Year Award; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:

  That we, the members of the Seventy-seventh Legislative
Assembly, honor the pilots and volunteers of the Oregon Wing of

Angel Flight West for their invaluable service to the people of
this state.
