  In memoriam: Representative Allen B. Pynn, 1936-2011.

                      CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
  Whereas Allen B. Pynn, former member of the Oregon House of
Representatives, died on December 5, 2011, at the age of 75; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn was raised in West Linn, Oregon; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn graduated from Oregon State University and
Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn remained in West Linn as an adult, where he
practiced law until he retired in 1990; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn served the people of Oregon as the state
Representative for Clackamas County from 1969 to 1973; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn was a key vote in electing Representative
Robert F. Smith as Speaker of the House of Representatives in
1969; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn exhibited a keen intellect and a wonderful
sense of humor in performing his duties as a legislator; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn demonstrated a consistent bipartisanship,
working with members of both parties; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn and former state Representative Richard
Kennedy, one a Republican and the other a Democrat, together
fostered an atmosphere of bipartisanship through the use of their
wit and humor; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn lost his bid for reelection in 1972 without
disappointment because his beloved twin sons, Parrish and Travis,
had been born two years earlier and, without having to fulfill
the duties of a state Representative, Allen Pynn could spend more
time attending to raising his sons; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn, after his tenure as state Representative,
continued to support many people from both parties who ran for
various local offices in Clackamas County, using his horse barn
on Petes Mountain as the site of countless campaign sign
paintings; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn collected a variety of items, including
military uniforms, weapons, animal head mounts and remote
mountain cabins; and
  Whereas the pursuit of a bargain was what interested Allen Pynn
most in collecting such things; and
  Whereas Allen Pynn loved nature, regularly feeding ducks and
geese, and always keeping salt licks on his properties for deer;
and
  Whereas Allen Pynn was loved and admired by many people from
Clackamas County, people who knew that he enjoyed good company
and good stories and with whom he would travel to the rural West
to pursue a bargain; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:
  That we, the members of the Seventy-sixth Legislative Assembly,
express our gratitude for state Representative Allen Pynn's
service to the people of Oregon; and be it further
  Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be presented with our
condolences to each of Allen Pynn's surviving sons, Parrish Pynn
and Travis Pynn.
