It is an editor's brief statement of the essential features of the measure as introduced. Requires Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon to identify light rail stations that are, or are located in, high-crime areas and to broadcast classical music audible throughout light rail station. A BILL FOR AN ACT Relating to light rail. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. { + (1) At light rail stations identified as high-crime areas or located in high-crime areas, the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon shall broadcast classical music during all hours in which light rail trains are in operation or at all times during which the light rail station is open or accessible to the public, whichever is longer. (2) In determining whether to identify a light rail station or the area in which a light rail station is located as a high-crime area subject to this section, the district shall consider: (a) Light rail stations and areas of the community in which light rail stations are located that are the focus of heightened attention by law enforcement agencies or district security personnel; and (b) Input and comments from members of the public, community groups and law enforcement agencies. (3) The district shall broadcast classical music at no fewer than ___ light rail stations pursuant to this section. (4) Classical music broadcast pursuant to this section must be audible throughout the area of the light rail station. (5) As used in this section, 'classical music' includes opera, chamber music, choral pieces and music requiring a full orchestra. + } ----------
