A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Huron High School girls volleyball team as the 2014 Division III State Champion.

       WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Huron High School girls volleyball team on winning the 2014 Division III State Championship; and

       WHEREAS, A remarkable group of athletes, the members of the Huron High School girls volleyball team have combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish themselves as a truly exceptional squad. With admirable dedication, players Alli Grendow, Morgan Welborn, Hannah Cantrill, Addie Wisehart, Maddie McCarthy, Morgan Bollenbacher, Riley Strickland, Erin Blankenship, Hannah Miller, Hadley Sterett, Gloria Souter, Sydney Ward, Gabriella Wood, Madi Orzech, and Jacqui Mullins have worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in volleyball, and as a result, the Tigers defeated a tough Gilmour Academy team by the score of 25-21, 25-16, 17-25, 25-21 to win this year's Division III State Championship, its fourth such title in program history, and finished the season with an impressive 25-4 record; and

       WHEREAS, The Tigers' achievements and leadership are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the players, their families, their school, their community, and their mentors. The success of any athletic endeavor depends largely on the ability of the coaches to provide both guidance and inspiration, and in leading their team to victory, Coach Don Wood and his assistants, Shawn Patton and Kristy Young, have not only helped each athlete to develop her talents to the fullest but also instilled in each a valuable sense of determination, perseverance, and camaraderie; and

       WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coaches for a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have gained through participation in sports will greatly aid them in meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Huron High School girls volleyball team on its tremendous season and salute the players and coaches as fine citizens; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Huron High School girls volleyball team.
