WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Nathan Griffin as the 2014 Division I State Champion in boys singles tennis; and |
WHEREAS, Nathan Griffin is deserving of acknowledgement for the formidable athletic gifts and the competitive spirit that he has so amply revealed throughout this past season as a junior standout for the St. Ignatius High School boys tennis squad. Among his achievements, he defeated a tough Springboro opponent by the score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to win this year's Division I State Singles Championship, becoming the first singles tennis player from St. Ignatius to win the state title. Commendably, he has exhibited the skill, strength, agility, and stamina that befit a genuine champion, and it is no surprise that he has won so many admirers; and |
WHEREAS, By developing such exceptional prowess in tennis, Nathan Griffin has gained the appreciation of his fellow athletes, the devotion of countless fans, and the respect of even his most determined rivals. Displaying dedication, discipline, and leadership, he has certainly distinguished himself as one of the most talented tennis players in the state, and in the process, he has made his family, friends, and community very proud; and |
WHEREAS, Few sports embody the spirit of individual accomplishment more than tennis, and athletes such as Nathan Griffin exemplify the qualities necessary for excellence in any sport, including agility, conditioning, and focus. Indeed, throughout long hours of practice and preparation, he has consistently shown the talent and motivation that are the hallmarks of an exceptional athlete; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Nathan Griffin on his impressive attainment and extend best wishes for a bright, rewarding future; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Nathan Griffin. |
