A RESOLUTION
Honoring Jack Nicklaus for his outstanding achievements as a professional golfer.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Jack Nicklaus on the Fiftieth Anniversary of his win at Oakmont for the 1962 U.S. Open; and

       WHEREAS,  For the past half a century, Jack Nicklaus has given willingly of his time and abilities to the sport of golf, winning one hundred eighteen professional tournament victories worldwide and eighteen major championship titles. Also a successful golf course designer, he is the man responsible for the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, which holds the PGA's Annual Memorial Golf Tournament and will host the 2013 Rider Cup, and he is well-respected by his countless friends and associates for his unwavering enthusiasm and commitment to this noteworthy sport; and

       WHEREAS,  Affectionately known as "the Golden Bear," Jack Nicklaus has conscientiously applied himself to the quest for excellence as a golfer, training and practicing in order to ensure peak conditioning. Time and again, he has risen to the occasion, maintaining his morale, composure, and good sportsmanship, and he has gained the respect of even his most determined rivals; and

       WHEREAS,  Combining natural talent with concentration and effort, Jack Nicklaus has attained exceptional proficiency as a golfer and has set an example of athletic attainment worth of the highest praise. Jack Nicklaus' accomplishments are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection not only on him but also on his friends and family and on his hometown; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, Jack Nicklaus on this special occasion and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Jack Nicklaus.
