WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Dr. E. Gordon Gee on the memorable occasion of his retirement as president of The Ohio State University, July 1, 2013; and |
WHEREAS, As an educational administrator, Gordon Gee has displayed a genuine dedication to attaining his myriad goals in a skillful and professional manner. Previously serving in such roles as a clerk for the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, a judicial fellow and staff assistant for the U.S. Supreme Court, a professor and associate dean at the Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School, dean of the West Virginia University Law School, and president of WVU, the University of Colorado, The Ohio State University, Brown University, and Vanderbilt University, he became president of OSU again in 2007, and under his astute guidance, the institution has continually improved and expanded its programs and facilities while remaining active in the community. In addition, he has served on numerous professional and community boards, committees, and organizations, authored various books, papers, and articles, and received several honors and awards, including being named one of the top ten university presidents in the country by Time magazine in 2009; and |
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Gordon Gee has clearly shown the potential of each person to have a positive effect on the quality of life in our society. Over the years, he has set an example of excellence that is worthy of emulation, and he has gained the appreciation and admiration of many; and |
WHEREAS, We are proud to note that it is through the unsurpassed efforts and deep commitment of diligent people like Gordon Gee that the State of Ohio continues to grow and prosper. To his credit, he has striven to advocate for higher education to the best of his ability, and we applaud him on his fine work; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Dr. E. Gordon Gee on his retirement and extend best wishes for the years to come; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Dr. E. Gordon Gee. |
