A BILL
To enact section 7.16 of the Revised Code to allow 1
political subdivisions to make internet web site 2
publications in lieu of newspaper of general 3
circulation publication requirements if the 4
political subdivision donates all funds that would 5
otherwise be used to provide newspaper notices to 6
a local food bank or food drive for charitable 7
purposes.8


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 7.16 of the Revised Code be enacted 9
to read as follows:10

       Sec. 7.16. (A) Notwithstanding any section of the Revised 11
Code that requires a political subdivision to publish a notice or 12
advertisement in a newspaper of general circulation, a political 13
subdivision may satisfy the publication requirement by posting the 14
notice or advertisement on the political subdivision's internet 15
web site. A notice or advertisement posted on a political 16
subdivision's internet web site shall provide the same information 17
as is otherwise required by the relevant statute and for the same 18
amount of time as is required by that statute.19

       (B) A political subdivision that exercises the authority 20
conferred by this section shall donate any funds that would 21
otherwise have been used to comply with the statutory notice by 22
newspaper publication requirements to a local food bank or food 23
drive to be used solely for charitable purposes.24

       (C) This section does not apply to any documents required to 25
be published in a newspaper of general circulation under Section 26
1g of Article II or Section 1 of Article XVI of the Ohio 27
Constitution.28
