STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9284 IN SENATE May 9, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. KAVANAGH -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Consumer Protection AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to requiring rental vehicles have any personal information removed from the vehicle once returned The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section 2 391-r to read as follows: 3 § 391-r. Personal information on rental vehicles. Any person, firm, 4 partnership, association or corporation engaged in the business of rent- 5 ing motor vehicles shall, upon receipt of a rental vehicle from a 6 customer, remove all personal information from such vehicle relating to 7 the customer. 8 § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall 9 have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD14886-01-4
