        Introduced  by Sen. KAVANAGH -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Women's Issues

        AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to including informa-
          tion on congenital heart defect births in the  informational  leaflets
          required to be given to maternity patients

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may  be  cited  as
     2  "Paul's law".
     3    § 2. Section 2803-j of the public health law, as amended by chapter 62
     4  of  the laws of 1996, is amended by adding a new subdivision 1-e to read
     5  as follows:
     6    1-e. The informational leaflet shall also include information  related
     7  to  congenital heart defect births, including treatment recommendations,
     8  and any other information the commissioner shall deem appropriate.
     9    § 3. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
    10  have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or
    11  repeal  of  any  rule  or regulation necessary for the implementation of
    12  this act on its effective date are authorized to be made  and  completed
    13  on or before such effective date.
