STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8495 IN SENATE May 9, 2018 ___________ Introduced by Sen. CROCI -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation AN ACT to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in relation to annual vehicular access for active volunteer firefighters The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The parks, recreation and historic preservation law is 2 amended by adding a new section 13.22 to read as follows: 3 § 13.22 Annual vehicular access for active volunteer firefighters. 1. 4 Notwithstanding any other law, rule or regulation to the contrary, the 5 office or other state agency having jurisdiction of a state park or 6 recreational facility which has the authority to issue an annual pass 7 for vehicular access pursuant to this article shall issue such annual 8 pass for vehicular access without charge to an active volunteer fire- 9 fighter, who received service credit the prior year pursuant to a 10 service award program established pursuant to section two hundred 11 sixteen-a of the general municipal law, and his or her immediate family 12 at any state park or recreational facility upon proof of such active 13 volunteer firefighter service. 14 2. For the purposes of this section, "active volunteer firefighter" 15 shall mean a resident of the state who is an active volunteer firefight- 16 er as defined in subdivision one of section two hundred fifteen of the 17 general municipal law. 18 3. The office or other state agency having jurisdiction shall promul- 19 gate such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the 20 provisions of this section. 21 § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after 22 it shall have become a law; provided, however, that effective immediate- 23 ly, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation 24 necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are 25 authorized and directed to be made and completed on or before such 26 effective date.
