        Introduced  by  Sens. KAPLAN, KENNEDY -- read twice and ordered printed,
          and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation

        AN ACT to amend the transportation law, in  relation  to  requiring  the
          department  of  transportation  to  annually prepare and submit to the
          legislature a highway pavement and bridge condition report

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 14 of the transportation law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 36 to read as follows:
     3    36. To annually, on or before January first, prepare and submit to the
     4  legislature  a highway pavement and bridge condition report. Such report
     5  shall include, but not be limited to, a detailed analysis of the  condi-
     6  tion  of  highway  pavement  and bridges throughout the state, a list of
     7  highway pavement and bridge improvement  projects  carried  out  by  the
     8  department  during  the  previous year, the status of each project and a
     9  detailed list, in order of priority, of the highway pavement and  bridge
    10  improvement  maintenance  projects  throughout  the  state  that require
    11  repair or maintenance.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
