ZELDIN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend a chapter of the laws of 2012, amending the general business law relating to the disclosure of social security numbers, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.6608-A and A.8992-A THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 and paragraph (b) of subdivision 3 of section 2 399-ddd of the general business law, as added by a chapter of the laws 3 of 2012 amending the general business law relating to the disclosure of 4 social security numbers, as proposed in legislative bills numbers 5 S.6608-A and A.8992-A, are amended to read as follows: 6 1. As used in this section, "social security account number" shall 7 include the number issued by the federal social security administration 8 [and any number derived from such number]. Such term shall not include 9 any number that has been encrypted. 10 (b) The social security account number is expressly required by feder- 11 al, state, or local law or regulation OR IS COLLECTED TO ALLOW COMPLI- 12 ANCE WITH A FEDERAL, STATE, OR LOCAL LAW OR REGULATION. 13 S 2. This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same 14 manner as a chapter of the laws of 2012 amending the general business 15 law relating to the disclosure of social security numbers, as proposed 16 in legislative bills numbers S.6608-A and A.8992-A.
