STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7659 IN SENATE May 12, 2016 ___________ Introduced by Sen. MURPHY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Army Captain Clayton Carpenter Memo- rial Highway" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-e to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-e. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Army Captain Clayton Carpenter Memorial Highway". All that portion of 5 the state highway system constituting state route one hundred eighteen 6 in the town of Yorktown, county of Westchester, beginning at the inter- 7 section of state route one hundred eighteen and Underhill Avenue, 8 continuing in a generally northerly direction on state route one hundred 9 eighteen, and terminating at the intersection of state route one hundred 10 eighteen and state route two hundred two, shall be designated and known 11 as the "Army Captain Clayton Carpenter Memorial Highway". 12 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 13 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 14 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 15 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 16 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be of cere- 17 monial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed 18 as a result of this act. 19 § 3.
