        Introduced  by  Sen.  PARKER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules

        AN ACT to amend a chapter of the laws of 2019, relating to directing the
          study of the future implementation  of  fifth  and  future  generation
          wireless  network  system  technology in the state, in relation to the
          agencies which shall conduct such study

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1.  Sections  1,  2  and  3 of a chapter of the laws of 2019,
     2  relating to directing the study of the future  implementation  of  fifth
     3  and  future  generation wireless network system technology in the state,
     4  as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.    1607  and  A.  1503,  are
     5  amended to read as follows:
     6    Section  1. The office of information technology services, the depart-
     7  ment of public service, the urban development corporation, the  division
     8  of  homeland  security  and  emergency  services,  the division of state
     9  police and the division of military and naval affairs  shall  study  and
    10  evaluate  the  implementation of fifth generation (5G) and future gener-
    11  ation wireless systems technology in the state.
    12    § 2. No later than one year after the effective date of this act, [the
    13  office of information technology services] such agencies shall submit to
    14  the governor and the legislature a report on 5G technology, as described
    15  under section one of this act.
    16    § 3. [The office of information  technology  services]  Such  agencies
    17  shall evaluate such data with the assistance of experts in:
    18    a. wireless technology;
    19    b. network capacity;
    20    c. cyber security; and
    21    d. internet speed.
    22    §  2.  This  act  shall  take  effect on the same date and in the same
    23  manner as a chapter of the laws of 2019, relating to directing the study
    24  of the future implementation of fifth  and  future  generation  wireless
    25  network system technology in the state, as proposed in legislative bills
    26  numbers S. 1607 and A. 1503, takes effect.
