STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7117 2021-2022 Regular Sessions IN SENATE June 1, 2021 ___________ Introduced by Sen. HELMING -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to allocating certain tax revenues for the promotion of tourism and tourist attractions in Sene- ca county The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 9 of section 1202-o of the tax law, as added by 2 chapter 784 of the laws of 1992, is amended to read as follows: 3 (9) All revenues resulting from the imposition of the tax under the 4 local laws shall be paid into the treasury of Seneca county and shall be 5 credited to and deposited in the general fund of the county[, thereafter6to be allocated only for tourism, promotion and development in Seneca7county. The revenues derived from said tax shall be allocated only to8enhance the general economy of the county of Seneca, its towns and9villages through promotion of tourist activities, conventions, trade10shows, special events and other directly related and supported activ-11ities. A committee of at least seven persons shall be created to advise,12recommend and administer the activities funded by the revenues generated13by this tax, including two representatives of the Seneca county tourism14industry, a board member of the Seneca county chamber of commerce, the15county administrator, a board member of Seneca 2000, Inc., a board16member of the Seneca county industrial development agency, and a member17of the Seneca county board of supervisors] and shall be made available 18 thereafter for the promotion of tourism and tourist attractions in Sene- 19 ca county and any other directly related or supporting activities as 20 related to tourism including, but not limited to, programs to improve 21 public infrastructures; to develop, operate and maintain public parks 22 and recreational facilities; to maintain and enhance the water resources 23 of Seneca county, including lakes and tributary streams; and for envi- EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. No more than five percent of such revenues shall 4 be used for the cost of administering the provisions of this subdivision 5 within the Seneca county treasurer's office. 6 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
