STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6421 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN SENATE June 10, 2019 ___________ Introduced by Sen. MYRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to party committee meeting and organization requirements The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 2-112 of the election law, as 2 amended by chapter 9 of the laws of 1978, is amended to read as follows: 3 1. Every [state committee shall within fifteen days after its4election, every county committee shall within twenty days after its5election, and all other committees shall within the time specified by6party rules, meet and organize by electing a chairman, a secretary, a7treasurer and such other officers as they may by their rules provide.8Within three days after their meetings all state and county committees9shall file in the office of the state board of elections a certificate10stating the names and post office addresses of such officers. County11committees and any other committee contained therein shall file a copy12of such statement with their county board of elections] committee shall 13 meet and organize by electing a chairman, a secretary, a treasurer and 14 such other officers as they may pursuant to their rules. 15 (a) Every state committee shall meet within fifteen days after its 16 election. 17 (b) Every county committee shall meet no earlier than September seven- 18 teenth and no later than October sixth following the June primary. Until 19 such organization meeting, the existing county committee shall exercise 20 all legal authority. Upon the conclusion of such organization meeting, 21 the new county committee shall assume all legal authority vested in the 22 previously organized county committee. 23 (c) All other committees shall meet within the time specified by party 24 rules.
