       Introduced  by  Sen. PERKINS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Health
       AN ACT to amend chapter 192 of the laws of 2011, relating to authorizing
         certain health care professionals licensed to practice in other juris-
         dictions to practice in this state in connection with an  event  sanc-
         tioned  by  New  York  Road  Runners,  in  relation  to  extending the
         provisions thereof
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Chapter  192 of the laws of 2011, relating to authorizing
    2  certain health care professionals licensed to practice in  other  juris-
    3  dictions  to  practice  in  this state in connection with an event sanc-
    4  tioned by New York Road Runners, as amended by chapter 4 of the laws  of
    5  2014,  paragraph d of section 1 as amended by chapter 116 of the laws of
    6  2014, is amended to read as follows:
    7    Section 1. Notwithstanding any  inconsistent  provision  of  law,  any
    8  person  who  is licensed to practice as a physician, physician's assist-
    9  ant, massage therapist, physical therapist, chiropractor, dentist, opto-
   10  metrist, nurse, nurse practitioner, certified athletic trainer or podia-
   11  trist in another state or territory, who is in  good  standing  in  such
   12  state  or  territory  and  who  has  been appointed by the New York Road
   13  Runners to provide professional services at an event in this state sanc-
   14  tioned by the New York  Road  Runners,  may  provide  such  professional
   15  services  to  athletes  and  team  personnel  registered  to  train at a
   16  location in this state or registered to compete in  an  event  conducted
   17  under  the  sanction  of  the New York Road Runners in the state without
   18  first being licensed pursuant to the provisions of title 8 of the educa-
   19  tion law. Such services shall be provided only four days before  through
   20  one day after each of the following events:
   21    a.  the  Staten  Island half marathon scheduled to be held on [October
   22  12, 2014] OCTOBER 11, 2015;
        EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
                             [ ] is old law to be omitted.

    1    b. the New York city marathon scheduled to be  held  on  [November  2,
    2  2014] NOVEMBER 1, 2015;
    3    c.  the  Brooklyn half marathon scheduled to be held on [May 17, 2014]
    4  MAY 16, 2015;
    5    d. the Bronx half marathon scheduled to  be  held  on  [September  28,
    6  2014] SEPTEMBER 27, 2015;
    7    e.  the  Queens  10k  scheduled to be held on [June 22, 2014] JUNE 21,
    8  2015; and
    9    f. the New York city half marathon scheduled to be held on [March  16,
   10  2014] MARCH 15, 2015.
   11    S  2.  This  act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
   12  deemed repealed January 31, [2015] 2016.
   13    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately and  shall  be  deemed  to
   14  have  been  in  full  force  and  effect  on and after January 31, 2015;
   15  provided that the amendments to section 1 of chapter 192 of the laws  of
   16  2011,  made  by section one of this act, shall not affect the expiration
   17  of such section and shall be deemed repealed therewith.
