       Introduced  by  Sen.  GOLDEN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government
       AN ACT to amend the general  municipal  law,  in  relation  to  allowing
         certain fire districts to provide a general ambulance service
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The opening paragraph of subdivision 1 of section 122-b  of
    2  the  general  municipal  law,  as  amended by chapter 303 of the laws of
    3  1980, is amended to read as follows:
    4    Any county, city, town [or], village OR FIRE DISTRICT  REPRESENTING  A
    5  LOCALITY,  acting  individually  or  jointly,  may  provide an emergency
    6  medical service, a general ambulance service or a  combination  of  such
    7  services  for  the  purpose  of  providing prehospital emergency medical
    8  treatment or transporting sick or injured persons found within the boun-
    9  daries of the municipality to a hospital, clinic,  sanatorium  or  other
   10  place for treatment of such illness or injury, and for that purpose may:
   11    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
