STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 3966--A 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN SENATE February 22, 2019 ___________ Introduced by Sen. SALAZAR -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to enacting the "safe way home act" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may be cited as 2 the "safe way home act". 3 § 2. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 631-b to 4 read as follows: 5 § 631-b. Safe way home transportation program. Notwithstanding any 6 other provision of law, within amounts appropriated for that purpose, 7 sexual assault crime victims shall be entitled to transportation free of 8 charge from any medical facility in the state in which such sexual 9 assault crime victim received initial medical services. Any crime victim 10 advocate assisting a sexual assault crime victim at a medical facility 11 at the initial delivery of medical services shall also be entitled to 12 transportation free of charge to and from such medical facility. The 13 office is authorized to promulgate rules and regulations to carry out 14 the provisions of this section. 15 § 3. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall 16 have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or 17 repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of 18 this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed 19 on or before such effective date.
