OPPENHEIMER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to authorizing the appointment of a police officer to the position of detective based on training and experience THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Section 61 of the civil service law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 4 to read as follows: 3 4. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, A 4 POLICE OFFICER WITH A PERMANENT APPOINTMENT MAY BE APPOINTED TO THE 5 PERMANENT POSITION OF DETECTIVE BASED UPON HIS OR HER TRAINING AND EXPE- 6 RIENCE ACCORDING TO THE RULES ESTABLISHED BY HIS OR HER MUNICIPAL CIVIL 7 SERVICE COMMISSION. 8 S 2.
