        Introduced  by  Sen. AMEDORE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Labor
        AN ACT to amend the workers' compensation law, in relation to subjecting
          a death benefit to apportionment in proportion to causation
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The opening paragraph of section 16 of the workers' compen-
     2  sation law, as amended by chapter 550 of the laws of 1978, is amended to
     3  read as follows:
     4    If the injury causes death, the compensation shall be known as a death
     5  benefit  and shall be payable in the amount and to or for the benefit of
     6  the persons following, subject to apportionment in proportion to  causa-
     7  tion:
     8    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
     9  have become a law.
