       Introduced  by  Sen.  AVELLA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism,
         Parks and Recreation
       AN ACT in relation to ordering a study and report on a  proposed  exten-
         sion  of  the Long Island Motor Parkway east from Winchester Boulevard
         to Little Neck Parkway in the county of Queens; and providing for  the
         repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The commissioner of the  department  of  transportation  is
    2  hereby  authorized  and directed to conduct a study on a proposed exten-
    3  sion of the Long Island Motor Parkway east from Winchester Boulevard  to
    4  Little Neck Parkway in the county of Queens.
    5    1. Such study shall address no less than the following issues:
    6    (a) The estimated total cost of the project.
    7    (b) The estimated duration of the project.
    8    (c) The impact construction will have on local traffic patterns.
    9    (d)  The  environmental impact of the project, represented in an envi-
   10  ronmental impact statement, if such statement is required by law, or  is
   11  deemed  warranted according to the discretion of the commissioner of the
   12  department of transportation.
   13    2. The commissioner of the department of transportation  shall  report
   14  such findings to the governor and the legislature by February 1, 2018.
   15    S  2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire February
   16  2, 2018 when upon such date the provisions of this act shall  be  deemed
   17  repealed.
