ADAMS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to contents to be contained in a certificate of death THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 4141 of the public health law is 2 amended by adding a new paragraph (e) to read as follows: 3 (E) WHERE A DEATH IS CAUSED BY INJURIES RELATED TO THE TERRORIST 4 ATTACKS ON SEPTEMBER ELEVENTH, TWO THOUSAND ONE, SUCH INFORMATION SHALL 5 BE INDICATED, INCLUDING ANY RELATED INFORMATION AS THE COMMISSIONER MAY 6 REQUIRE. 7 S 2. Subdivision 3 of section 4143 of the public health law, as 8 amended by chapter 545 of the laws of 1965, is amended to read as 9 follows: 10 3. The coroner or medical examiner whose duty it is to investigate the 11 death and to execute the certificate of death, shall state in such 12 certificate the name of the disease causing death, or if from external 13 causes, the means of death; whether probably accidental, suicidal or 14 homicidal; OR WHERE A DEATH IS CAUSED BY INJURIES RELATING TO THE 15 TERRORIST ATTACKS ON SEPTEMBER ELEVENTH, TWO THOUSAND ONE, SUCH INFORMA- 16 TION SHALL BE INDICATED, and shall, in any case, furnish such informa- 17 tion as may be required by the commissioner in order to classify the 18 death. 19 S 3.
