       AN ACT to amend chapter 59 of the laws of 2006, amending the vehicle and
         traffic law relating to all terrain vehicle (ATV)  registration  fees,
         in  relation  to  directing the department of motor vehicles to refund
         the difference between the additional fee and  the  annual  individual
         registration fee paid by certain registrants of all terrain vehicles
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 4 of part G of chapter 59  of  the  laws  of  2006,
    2  amending  the  vehicle  and  traffic law relating to all terrain vehicle
    3  (ATV) registration fees, is amended to read as follows:
    4    S 4. Any person who, upon registration of an all terrain vehicle (ATV)
    5  or renewal thereof, paid the additional fee provided  for  under  FORMER
    6  subdivision  4-a of section 2282 of the vehicle and traffic law prior to
    7  the effective date of this act, shall be entitled to an extension of his
    8  or her registration for a duration of one year. The commissioner of  the
    9  department  of  motor vehicles shall provide notification of such regis-
   10  tration extension to each such person and shall issue a  certificate  of
   11  registration to each such person in a manner and form as the commission-
   12  er  shall  prescribe.  IN  ADDITION,  THE COMMISSIONER OF MOTOR VEHICLES
   13  SHALL REFUND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUCH ADDITIONAL FEE AND  THE  ANNUAL
   14  INDIVIDUAL  ALL  TERRAIN VEHICLE REGISTRATION FEE (FIVE DOLLARS) TO EACH
   15  PERSON ENTITLED TO A REGISTRATION EXTENSION PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION.
   16    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately and  shall  be  deemed  to
   17  have been in full force and effect on and after June 10, 2006.
