STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 126 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN SENATE (Prefiled) January 4, 2023 ___________ Introduced by Sen. RYAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to the education and experience of members of the state board of parole The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 259-b of the executive law, as 2 amended by section 38-a of subpart A of part C of chapter 62 of the laws 3 of 2011, is amended to read as follows: 4 2. Each member of the board shall either (a) have been awarded a 5 degree from an accredited four-year college or university or a graduate 6 degree from such college or university or accredited graduate school and 7 shall have had at least five years of experience in one or more of the 8 fields of criminology, administration of criminal justice, law enforce- 9 ment, sociology, law, social work, corrections, psychology, psychiatry 10 or medicine; or (b) have at least ten years of experience in one or more 11 of the fields of criminology, administration of criminal justice, law 12 enforcement, sociology, law, social work, corrections, psychology, 13 psychiatry or medicine. 14 § 2.
