        HONORING  Dr.  Vincent Arnone upon the occasion of
        his designation for special recognition by  the  New
        York  State  Art  Teachers  Association  on November
        17-19, 2023

  WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and  publicly  acknowledge  individuals  of  remarkable  integrity   and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this
great State; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern  and  in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. Vincent Arnone upon the occasion  of  his  designation  for  special
recognition  by  the New York State Art Teachers Association at its 75th
Annual Conference on November 17-19, 2023; and

  WHEREAS, The New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA)  is  a
non-profit  professional organization founded in 1948 for the purpose of
advancing the cause of art education while promoting and advocating  for
excellence in art education throughout New York State; and

  WHEREAS,   Longtime   college   professor  Dr.  Vincent  Arnone  was
recognized by this vital organization  with  a  special  citation  award
honoring  his  years of teaching at what was then known as Buffalo State
College, as well as  for  his  many  years  of  unwavering  service  and
commitment to both NYSATA and art education; and

  WHEREAS, A 1952 graduate of Buffalo State College with a Bachelor of
Science  degree  in  Art  Education,  Vincent  Arnone  holds a Fine Arts
diploma from the Albright Art School and a Master's degree in Fine  Arts
and  Art Education from Columbia University Teachers College, as well as
a Doctoral degree in Education from the State University at Buffalo; and

  WHEREAS, After two years of service as an Instructor and  Curriculum
Coordinator  with  the  United States Army, Dr. Vincent Arnone taught in
the Clarence School System from 1955-1963; and

  WHEREAS, Dr. Vincent Arnone continued his illustrious career at what
is now Buffalo State  University  in  1963  as  coordinator  of  student
teaching  in  the  Art  Education  Division; three years later he became
acting all-college coordinator of Student Teaching; and

  WHEREAS, Furthermore, during this time, he consulted professionally,
especially  in  the  area  of  evaluation  and  assessment  systems  for
measuring competence in teaching; and

  WHEREAS,  Dr.  Vincent  Arnone's  research  experience  includes his
tenure at the Teacher Learning Center at Buffalo State University  where
he implemented research in interdisciplinary teacher learning curriculum
from 1965-1971; and

  WHEREAS,  In  1973,  he  was appointed chairman of the Art Education
Department and under his leadership, enrollment peaked at 250  students,
the largest art education program in the United States at the time; and

  WHEREAS,  Dr.  Vincent  Arnone was then named Dean of the Faculty of
Arts and Humanities for the college, the esteemed position from which he
retired; and

  WHEREAS,  In  addition  to  his  vast  accomplishments   in   higher
education,  Dr.    Vincent  Arnone  was consultant to the Buffalo Public
School System for its School of Visual and Performing Arts in 1976,  and
assisted in program development and staff selection from 1977-78; he was
also  on  a  team  of  consultants advising the Baltimore, Maryland City
Schools on program and curriculum for The School of Arts; and

  WHEREAS, The proud recipient of numerous awards and  accolades,  Dr.
Vincent Arnone received honorable mention for the development of teacher
resource  materials by the National American Association of Colleges for
Teacher Education; and

  WHEREAS, With him throughout have been  his  wife,  the  late  Bette
Pierce  Arnone,  and  their  four  wonderful  children, all of whom feel
privileged  to  be  a  part  of  his  life  and  rejoice  in  his   many
achievements; and

  WHEREAS,  A  significant contributor to education in New York State,
Dr.    Vincent  Arnone  has  continually  demonstrated   an   impressive
dedication,  an  unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for
the quality of the educational programs  and  opportunities  offered  at
Buffalo  State University and within educational institutions throughout
the nation; and

  WHEREAS, After a renowned career which spanned several decades,  Dr.
Vincent  Arnone  leaves  behind a legacy to the countless students whose
lives he has touched, and to the  residents  of  the  Western  New  York
community; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Vincent Arnone  upon  the  occasion  of  his  designation  for
special  recognition  by  the New York State Art Teachers Association on
November 17-19, 2023; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Dr. Vincent Arnone.
