        CONGRATULATING  Piper  Altman upon the occasion of
        receiving the distinguished Girl Scout  Gold  Award,
        the most prestigious of Scouting honors

  WHEREAS,  Piper  Altman, through her diligence and rigorous efforts,
has achieved Scouting's highest and most  prestigious  honor,  the  Girl
Scout Gold Award; the ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022; and

  WHEREAS, A junior at Mattituck High School, Piper Altman is a member
of North Fork Council Troop 660; and

  WHEREAS, In addition to her achievements with the Girl Scouts, Piper
Altman  is  actively  involved  in  her  high  school,  serving  as Vice
President of her class, National Art Honor Society, and  Future  Farmers
of America Club; and

  WHEREAS,  A  dual  enrollment  student at Farmingdale State College,
Piper Altman  is  a  member  of  the  National  Honor  Society  and  has
maintained her position on the high honor roll since 7th grade; and

  WHEREAS, Piper Altman is an All-County Musician and has performed in
both  HMEA  and SCMEA choruses, and participated in the NYSSMA All-State
solo competition; and

  WHEREAS, She is also a member of her school's Girls' Varsity  Tennis
Team,  Girls'  Varsity Winter Track Team and Girls' Varsity Spring Track
Team since 9th grade; and

  WHEREAS, Piper Altman is a participant of DECA and was  the  Suffolk
County  Regional  Winner of 2022 DECA Hospitality Services Team Decision
Making Award; she also serves as Chief Operating Officer of the  Virtual
Enterprise team corporation, Shrivot Golf, Inc.; and

  WHEREAS,  This  exceptional young lady tutors elementary students at
the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library and has served as a  Board  Member  on
the  Mattituck-Laurel Library Teen Advisory Board for six years, and was
the recipient of the prestigious Presidential Volunteer Service  Bronze,
Silver  and Gold Award from The White House for her volunteer service to
the library for over 100 hours of service in one year; and

  WHEREAS,  Piper  Altman  is  also  an  accomplished  artist   having
exhibited  her  art  multiple  times  in  student art expositions at the
Parrish Art Museum; she has been a member of  Art  Portfolio  since  7th
grade,  and  has  received  consecutive  perfect  scores  on  NYSATA art
portfolio reviews; and

  WHEREAS, When Piper Altman is not at school or helping someone,  she
works  at a local fish store and farm stand, and enjoys participating in
local 5K fundraisers; recently, she won First Place in her age  category
at the Mattituck Booster Club's first Shamrock Shuffle; and

  WHEREAS,  America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts  of  the  outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and

  WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and

  WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to
the development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation;
and

  WHEREAS,  Since  1919,  Senior  Girl Scouts have sought to cap their
years in Girl Scouting with the prized  Girl  Scout  Gold  Award,  which
challenges girls to change the world; and

  WHEREAS,  In  order  to  earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, a girl must
complete  a  rigorous  set  of  service,  leadership  development,   and
skill-building  tasks  leading  up  to  the  final  and most challenging
requirement, the design and completion of a Take  Action  Project;  this
project  must  be  an  issue  of interest to the girl and her community,
employ team-based solutions, and educate and inspire others; and

  WHEREAS, For her project,  Piper  Altman  designed,  fabricated  and
installed  a  solar  charging station at her school for USB devices; her
goal for this project was to supply a  carbon  footprint  free  reliable
charging  source  for  students  while  spreading  awareness  about  the
benefits of solar energy; and

  WHEREAS, This outstanding young woman has been involved in  Scouting
for years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all of the
necessary achievements; and

  WHEREAS,  Piper  Altman  is  a credit to her family, her school, her
community, her State and her Nation, and no doubt  her  future  will  be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance  of  this  meritorious  achievement,  to
congratulate and honor Piper Altman upon the occasion of her designation
as recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Piper Altman.
