        COMMENDING   Sergeant   Greg   Facciolo  upon  the
        occasion of his retirement after 20 years of service
        to the Utica Police Department

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize  and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service,  demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their  communities  and  this  great
Empire State; and

  WHEREAS,  Within  every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment  and  dedication,
command  the  respect  and  admiration  of  their  community  for  their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to  commend  Sergeant
Greg  Facciolo  upon  the  occasion  of his retirement after 20 years of
service to the Utica Police Department; and

  WHEREAS,  Throughout  his  distinguished  law  enforcement   career,
Sergeant  Greg  Facciolo  has  led  and served as an expert in the Crime
Scene Unit;  in  this  capacity,  he  was  always  available  to  answer
questions  related  to crime scene management, forensic phone downloads,
accident reconstruction, or any other item of  a  case  that  had  major
evidentiary implications; and

  WHEREAS,  Throughout  his tenure, Sergeant Greg Facciolo was on call
24/7 and handled all the Department's major cases;  his  vast  knowledge
and attention to detail guaranteed nothing was missed, ensuring the best
possible  case  would be presented to the District Attorney's Office for
prosecution; and

  WHEREAS, In addition to his work with the Utica  Police  Department,
Sergeant  Greg  Facciolo proved to be a valuable source of knowledge for
many other agencies; he was  requested  to  assist  on  several  officer
involved  shootings, death investigations, and other large-scale scenes,
such as the Tom Lindsey case; and

  WHEREAS, Sergeant Greg Facciolo  will  always  be  remembered  as  a
strong  leader  who  served not only his community, but helped make each
and every one of his officers the best he or she could be;  through  his
tireless  efforts,  the Department's Crime Scene Unit is one of the most
concise and dedicated in not only Oneida County, but New York State as a
whole; and

  WHEREAS, It is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  those
dedicated  public  servants  who  unselfishly  devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are  worthy  and  due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sergeant Greg Facciolo upon the occasion of his retirement after

20 years of service to the Utica Police Department, and to wish him well
in all his future endeavors; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sergeant Greg Facciolo.
