        COMMEMORATING  the  62nd  Anniversary  of Philipse
        Manor Hall being declared a National Landmark in the
        State of New York

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that  the  quality
of  life of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly enriched by
its exceptional cultural, educational and recreational institutions; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commemorate the 62nd Anniversary of Philipse Manor Hall being declared a
National Landmark in the State of New York; and

  WHEREAS, Located right off of the Hudson River in Yonkers, New York,
Philipse Manor Hall was home to the wealthiest family in  the  State  of
New  York; in 1961, Philipse Manor Hall was declared a National Historic
Landmark; and

  WHEREAS, Today, Philipse Manor Hall serves as a historic site with a
"balanced approach to interpreting the lives  of  indigenous,  European,
and African people" according to the New York State Parks Service; and

  WHEREAS, Recently, Philipse Manor Hall was renovated to preserve the
historic  grounds  and  improve accessibility so all who visit can enjoy
the attraction; and

  WHEREAS, It is  the  custom  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  when
institutions  of  such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all  the  citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 62nd Anniversary of Philipse Manor Hall being declared a
National Landmark in the State of New York; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That copies of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted  to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New
York, Philipse Manor Hall Historic Site, the Yonkers Historical  Society
and the Mayor of the City of Yonkers.
