Senate Resolution No. 442 BY: Senator HELMING COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of the Auburn Moose Lodge 1419 WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its traditions, to honor and recognize benevolent organizations which have had a significant impact on the community by supporting children and families in need, senior citizens and local veterans; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Auburn Moose Lodge 1419; and WHEREAS, The Auburn Moose Lodge 1419 was established by a charter of 50 men in 1919; and WHEREAS, In 2015, the Auburn Moose Lodge 1419 moved from its former location on Washington Street to its new location at 83 Wall Street in Auburn, New York; the members celebrated the new building with an Open House and invited the public to attend the grand opening which included refreshments and live music; and WHEREAS, The Auburn Moose Lodge 1419 is a Chapter of the Loyal Order of Moose, a fraternal and service organization founded in 1888, in Louisville, Kentucky, by Dr. John Henry Wilson; the organization consisted of lodges throughout the United States, Great Britain, and Canada; and WHEREAS, With more than 400,000 members in roughly 1,600 Chapters, the Women of the Moose is the female organization of the Loyal Order of Moose; established in 1913, these women provide social, educational, and community service opportunities to its members; and WHEREAS, The Moose Fraternity is dedicated to caring for young and old, bringing communities closer together, and celebrating life; and WHEREAS, Among their charitable works, the Loyal Order of the Moose supports the operation of Mooseheart Child and City School outside of Chicago, Illinois, for children and teens in need, as well as a 70-acre retirement community for their members outside of Jacksonville, Florida; and WHEREAS, The members of the Loyal Order of the Moose organize many sports and recreational programs throughout North America, contributing approximately $70 million in donations and hours worked on community service projects; and WHEREAS, In addition to their good works, the Loyal Order of Moose offers a wide array of activities for both individual and family participation, such as holiday parties, dances, sporting events, and live entertainment; and WHEREAS, The members of the Auburn Moose Lodge 1419 have dedicated countless hours in order to provide the necessary support for people in the Auburn area by hosting numerous charitable and civic activities; and WHEREAS, Proud to be a family oriented organization, members of the Auburn Moose Lodge 1419 donate all the supplies needed for the celebrations; furthermore, events such as barbecues and steak dinners with deejays are held every Saturday night; and WHEREAS, The success of the Auburn Moose Lodge 1419 is in direct correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire State, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Auburn Moose Lodge 1419, and to commend its members, past and present, who have labored so conscientiously to secure and improve the quality of life in the community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the Auburn Moose Lodge 1419.
