Assembly Resolution No. 67 BY: M. of A. Maher CONGRATULATING Paul C. Landers upon the occasion of his retirement after 40 years of devoted service to the field of disabilities services WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations devoted to improving the quality of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and self-worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and WHEREAS, From time to time, society calls upon these individuals and organizations to be recognized for the significance of their contributions and efforts to assist others in developing the skills necessary to be successful, productive citizens; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Paul C. Landers upon the occasion of his retirement after 40 years of devoted service to the field of disabilities services; and WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to serving individuals with disabilities, Paul C. Landers began his illustrious career with Pathfinder Village in 2000; he quickly climbed the ranks to become President and Chief Executive Officer in 2008, the esteemed position from which he will officially retire; and WHEREAS, Pathfinder Village is a community where people with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities discover their own value and talents, and share these gifts with others; furthermore, its residents are valued for their abilities and contributions, and they are encouraged to choose friends and develop goals; and WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Paul C. Landers, Pathfinder Village promotes a healthy, progressive environment which respects the individual, supporting a life of value and independence; and WHEREAS, Throughout Paul C. Landers' 15 years as President and CEO, this vital organization has advanced its mission from a long-term care provider to a more diverse services provider, most notably in the post-secondary education, adult day services and aging supports; and WHEREAS, Additionally, Paul C. Landers has been instrumental in Pathfinder's evolution as a community through expanded integrated connections, both on and off-campus, and strengthened strategic community partnerships; and WHEREAS, During his tenure as President and CEO, Paul C. Landers served with loyalty, honor and distinction, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and WHEREAS, In his well-deserved retirement, Paul C. Landers plans to spend more time with his family, especially his five grandchildren, while continuing to support Pathfinder Village from the sideline; and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demonstrated by Paul C. Landers over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to others; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate Paul C. Landers upon the occasion of his retirement after 40 years of devoted service to the field of disabilities services; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Paul C. Landers.
