        COMMEMORATING   the  27th  Annual  Bay  Ridge  St.
        Patrick's Day Parade to be held March 22, 2020,  and
        paying  special tribute to this year's Grand Marshal
        Linda Gallagher-Lomanto

  WHEREAS, Saint Patrick's Day is a time for all to celebrate the rich
heritage of the Irish people, unlimited in their contributions  to  this
greatly diverse land of ours; and

  WHEREAS,  A  Saint  Patrick's  Day  parade  reflects and records the
ongoing history of the  United  States  and  Ireland,  and  provides  an
opportunity  for  people  of all generations to assemble in ethnic pride
and pageantry; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud  to  commemorate  the
27th  Annual  Bay  Ridge  St.  Patrick's  Day Parade, and to pay special
tribute to this year's Grand Marshal Linda Gallagher-Lomanto, to be held
in Brooklyn, New York; prior to the parade, the Bay Ridge St.  Patrick's
Day Dinner Dance will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020; and

  WHEREAS,  In  acknowledgment  of  this most prestigious appointment,
Linda Gallagher-Lomanto will have the honor of leading the  27th  Annual
Bay  Ridge  St.  Patrick's  Day  Parade down 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn, New
York, on Sunday, March 22, 2020; and

  WHEREAS, The  Bay  Ridge  St.  Patrick's  Day  Parade  is  meant  to
recognize and celebrate Irish culture, heritage and pride, for those who
have  emigrated  here  from  the  Emerald  Isle,  and the Irish-American
community, as well as those who are Irish in spirit; and

  WHEREAS, In addition to Grand Marshal Linda Gallagher-Lomanto,  this
year's  Deputy  Marshals  include:  Judy  Conway, Tracy McDonagh Joerss,
Eileen Tynion,  Krissy  Woods,  Christoper  Cody,  Eric  DiRamio,  Steve
McEvoy, Billy Murphy, and John Ward; and

  WHEREAS,  Gene  Reilly, owner of the former Lief Erickson Pub on 5th
Avenue, was responsible for organizing the first Annual Bay Ridge  Saint
Patrick's  Day  Parade;  his mission was to share the Celtic culture and
love of Irish Heritage; and

  WHEREAS, For over a quarter  of  a  century,  the  Bay  Ridge  Saint
Patrick's  Day  Parade has made its mark on the history of Bay Ridge; by
bringing residents and business owners from all parts of  the  community
together,  this  annual  traditional  Irish event has become a staple of
southern Brooklyn and of New York City; and

  WHEREAS, Through this heartfelt  and  compassionate  expression,  as
well  as  through their sustained commitment to the cultural vitality of
their Irish heritage, the Irish-American people of the Brooklyn area and
the State of New York bear  witness  to  the  deep  faith  and  love  of
humanity which is their rich tradition; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 27th Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's  Day  Parade  to  be
held  March  22,  2020,  and to pay special tribute to this year's Grand
Marshal Linda Gallagher-Lomanto; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  copies  of  this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade  Committee,  Grand
Marshal Linda Gallagher-Lomanto, and the aforementioned Deputy Marshals.
