        HONORING   Reverend   V.  Jean  McBryde  upon  the
        occasion of her  designation  as  recipient  of  the
        Ecumenical  Award  by  Stuy Park Lions Club, Inc. on
        February 14, 2020

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to  recognize  and
honor  those  distinguished  citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to  the  welfare  of  the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Reverend V. Jean  McBryde  upon  the  occasion  of  her  designation  as
recipient  of  the  Ecumenical Award by Stuy Park Lions Club, Inc. to be
celebrated at its Red and White Sweetheart Gala on Friday, February  14,
2020, at Antun's, Queens Village, New York; and

  WHEREAS,   The   Stuy  Park  Lions  Club  is  part  of  Lions  Clubs
International, one of the largest service organizations  in  the  world,
and is deeply committed to meeting the challenges of public service; and

  WHEREAS, Reverend V. Jean McBryde, known affectionately as Jean, was
born  in Laurinburg, North Carolina to Mary Catherine Monroe; at the age
13, she and her siblings moved to Mount Vernon, New York, and  in  1973,
she graduated from Mount Vernon High School; and

  WHEREAS,  Although  she earned an academic scholarship, Jean McBryde
chose to enter the workforce and took a  position  working  for  the  US
Postal  Service;  she  worked there for 37 years, 20 of those years as a
Service Professional in marketing, before retiring in 2010; and

  WHEREAS, In 1969, Jean McBryde joined the Greater Centennial  A.M.E.
Zion Church; she entered ministry in 1986 and was ordained in October of
1989; and

  WHEREAS,  Reverend  Jean  McBryde  served as Assistant Pastor of the
First Church of the Christ Mind, Inc. until July of 1992;  in  April  of
1993,  she  returned to her home church and rededicated her life back to
membership at the Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church; and

  WHEREAS, In 2006, Reverend Jean  McBryde  moved  her  membership  to
A.M.E.    Zion Church of Newburgh, and two years later, she preached her
trial sermon and became a Local  Preacher  with  the  African  Methodist
Episcopal Zion Church; and

  WHEREAS,  Reverend  Jean McBryde was called to Pastor at the Wickham
Methodist Church in Port Jervis, New York, in  2013  and  was  installed
August 10, 2014; and

  WHEREAS, Reverend Jean McBryde is the proud mother of two daughters,
Kali  and  Monifa,  and  the  loving  grandmother  of two grandchildren,
Michaela and Mikko; and

  WHEREAS, The success of the  Stuy  Park  Lions  Club  is  in  direct
correlation  to  the  efforts of dedicated members such as Reverend Jean
McBryde, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by  an
impressive  commitment,  an  unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard  of  excellence  in all endeavors on behalf of the organization
and the community it serves; and

  WHEREAS, Rare indeed  is  the  impressive  dedication  shown  by  an
individual  for  the  benefit  of others which Reverend Jean McBryde has
displayed throughout her life; and

  WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this  Legislative  Body
to  honor  and  support  those  individuals  who  have  displayed  their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the  intent
of  this  Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Reverend Jean McBryde, that future generations may know  and  appreciate
her  admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Reverend  V. Jean McBryde upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Ecumenical Award by Stuy Park Lions Club, Inc.; and  be
it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Reverend V. Jean McBryde.
