        MOURNING   the   death   of   Delmas   Ray   McIe,
        distinguished citizen, veteran, and family man

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York  whose  lifework  and  civic  endeavor
served  to  enhance  the  quality  of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

  WHEREAS, Delmas "Del" Ray  McIe  of  Brewster,  New  York,  died  on
Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at the age of 73; and

  WHEREAS,  Born  to  Altie and Francis in West Virginia on August 17,
1949, Delmas Ray McIe was the seventh of eight children; he spent  years
in  his  home state until joining the U.S. Army from 1969-1971, where he
served in the Vietnam War; and

  WHEREAS, Following his military service, Delmas Ray  McIe  moved  to
New  York, the state where he met his wife, Carrie, with whom he married
on September 26, 1987, and would live for the rest of his life; and

  WHEREAS, The couple moved from Mamaroneck  to  West  Harrison,  then
finally  settled  in  Brewster,  New  York, where they would establish a
lovely family home and raise their children, Alex and Adam; and

  WHEREAS, Delmas Ray McIe distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and

  WHEREAS, Delmas Ray McIe worked as a glazier and  foreman  at  Klahr
Glass,  installing  windowpanes  to tall buildings, artistically cutting
beautiful pieces of glass and mirror, and architecturally designing  and
calculating complex measurements for large-scale jobs; and

  WHEREAS,  During  his fulfilling and always-adventurous life, Delmas
Ray McIe enjoyed hiking, bowhunting, cooking,  riding  his  bike,  being
outdoors,  gardening,  refurbishing  his  1968 Camaro, and spending time
with his beloved family and cherished grandson, Landon; and

  WHEREAS, Delmas Ray McIe's commitment to excellence, and his  spirit
of  humanity,  carried  over  into  all  fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

  WHEREAS,  Delmas  Ray  McIe  is  survived  by  his   wife,   Carrie;
mother-in-law, Adele; daughter, Alex; son, Adam; daughter-in-law, Sarah;
grandson, Landon; as well as by extended family in West Virginia and New
Mexico; and

  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Delmas Ray McIe leaves  behind  a  legacy  which  will  long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Delmas Ray McIe, distinguished citizen, veteran,  and
family man; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Delmas Ray McIe.
