Senate Resolution No. 1791 BY: Senator GALLIVAN HONORING Cheryl Anthony upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce on March 21, 2024 WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and commend those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Cheryl Anthony upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Awards Gala on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Samuel's Grande Manor in Clarence, New York; and WHEREAS, Cheryl Anthony was nominated for this prestigious award for her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her beloved community of Clarence Center, New York; and WHEREAS, Having lived in Clarence most of her life, Cheryl Anthony is a 1982 Clarence High School graduate and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Organizational Psychology; in 2000, Cheryl and her husband, Bryan, bought an old farm house in Clarence with acreage to start a small flower farm and raise their daughter, Jessica; and WHEREAS, With her love of art and nature, Cheryl Anthony pursued a career in landscape design and sales, a rewarding path that she still enjoys today; she joined the Clarence Hollow Association (CHA) and volunteered to help with the beautification efforts on Main Street; and WHEREAS, In 2002, Cheryl Anthony united with other volunteer members of the CHA to organize a farmers' market in the hollow, partnering with Nancy McIver; a couple of years later, the pair co-managed the market until 2009; Cheryl has since remained market manager, growing her volunteer base to 30 plus dedicated volunteers, bringing fresh, local produce to the community; and WHEREAS, As current President and Market Manager of the Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market, Cheryl Anthony is committed to volunteering and developing a gathering place to help create unity in the Clarence community; in 2014, she and her team were honored with the Clarence Chamber's Organization of the Year Award; and WHEREAS, Truly devoted to her community, Cheryl Anthony is also a volunteer on the Clarence Hollow Community Character Protection Board and serves to find homes for feral cats; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Cheryl Anthony upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce on March 21, 2024; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Cheryl Anthony.
