Senate Resolution No. 1748

        HONORING Robert A. Geiger upon the occasion of his
        designation  as recipient of the Citizen of the Year
        Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce  on  March
        3, 2022

  WHEREAS,  It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's  work
and  purpose  to  community  service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert Allyn Geiger upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Citizen of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce, to be
celebrated  at its 49th Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, March 3, 2022,
at Samuel's Grande Manor in Clarence, New York; and

  WHEREAS, Robert A. Geiger is receiving this  prestigious  award  for
his  steadfast  and  unremitting  commitment to his beloved community of
Clarence; and

  WHEREAS, Robert Allyn Geiger was born and  raised  in  Buffalo,  New
York,  where  he  attended  Kensington High School; after graduating, he
earned  his  bachelor's  degree  in  Business  Administration   with   a
concentration  in  Traffic  and  Transportation  at  the  University  at
Buffalo; and

  WHEREAS, A co-founder of the Air Command Squadron  ROTC,  Robert  A.
Geiger  proudly  served  his country as a member of the 98th Regiment in
the United States Army Reserves at Fort Dix in New Jersey; and

  WHEREAS, After moving to Clarence, where he has lived  for  over  60
years, Robert A. Geiger quickly became a vital part of his new community
serving  in  numerous  capacities;  he was a member of the Clarence Town
Zoning Board of Appeals and Recreation Advisory Board, President of both
the Clarence Rotary Club and Clarence Rotary Foundation, and  a  charter
member of Clarence Toastmasters; and

  WHEREAS,  This  remarkable  man  is  also  involved  in the Taste of
Clarence,  Clarence  Hollow  Association  and  Clarence  Farmers  Market
activities,  as  well  as  the Clarence Chamber of Commerce where he has
held various roles; and

  WHEREAS, Robert A. Geiger has also served as a mentor to  the  young
people  of  Clarence;  he  was  a  co-founder  of  Academy of Finance at
Clarence High  School,  has  been  a  seven-year  guest  participant  at
Clarence  High  School's New Generations, was an Eagle Scout Advisor for
Troops 664 and 250 and took part in many explorer adventures; and

  WHEREAS, Currently, Robert A. Geiger is a parishioner at Nativity of
BVM and is a Councilman on the Clarence Town Board; in this capacity, he
serves as the liaison to groups such  as  the  Clarence  Senior  Center,
Clarence Historical Society and Animal Control; and


  WHEREAS,  With  him  throughout have been his wife of 61 years, Pat;
two  sons,  Tom  and  Tim;  one  daughter,  Sherry,  and  eight  beloved
grandchildren,  all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative  Body  that  those  who
enhance  the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly  have  earned  the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert A. Geiger upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Citizen of the Year Award by the Clarence  Chamber  of  Commerce;
and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Robert A. Geiger.
