        MOURNING  the  death  of Thomas P. Diana, business
        owner,   retired   police   officer,   distinguished
        citizen, and devoted member of his community

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life  in  their  communities  and  this
great Empire State; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  with  profound  sorrow  and  deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of  Thomas  P.  Diana,  noting  the
significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and

  WHEREAS,  Thomas  P.  Diana  of  Shrub Oak, New York, passed away on
January 5, 2024, at the age of 66; and

  WHEREAS, Thomas P. Diana was a third generation Shrub  Oak  resident
and a proud graduate of Lakeland High School

  WHEREAS,  Thomas  P.  Diana  was a retired Westchester County Police
Officer and small business owner, who was first elected to the  Yorktown
Town  Board  in  2015;  as  a  member of the Town Board, Thomas P. Diana
founded Yorktown Against Heroin, which raised funds  for  "Dallas,"  the
Yorktown Police Department's drug detection canine; and

  WHEREAS,  Thomas  P. Diana became supervisor of the Town of Yorktown
on January 1, 2023, when then-Yorktown Town Supervisor Matt  Slater  was
elected  to  the New York State Assembly; Thomas P. Diana was elected to
his first full term as Yorktown Town Supervisor on November 7, 2023; and

  WHEREAS, Thomas P. Diana was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 2324  of
Yorktown  Heights,  New  York,  and the Sons of American Legion Squadron
1009; and

  WHEREAS, Thomas P. Diana is survived by his  wife,  Donna;  his  two
children, Megan and Brianna; and four grandchildren; and

  WHEREAS,  Endowed with a friendly, humanistic spirit and imbued with
a strong sense of public service, Thomas P. Diana leaves behind a legacy
that will long  endure  the  passage  of  time  and  will  remain  as  a
comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Thomas P.  Diana,  a  distinguished  citizen,  and  a
devoted member of his community; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Thomas P. Diana.
