Senate Resolution No. 1133

        COMMENDING  Drs. Roy & Eda Hastick Foundation upon
        the occasion of hosting its Celebrating the Life  of
        Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr event on July 13, 2023

  WHEREAS,  It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State  of  New  York  whose  focus  and
intent  have  made  a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commend Drs. Roy & Eda Hastick Foundation upon the occasion  of  hosting
its  Celebrating  the  Life  of Dr. Roy A. Hastick Sr event on Thursday,
July 13, 2023, at Brooklyn Navy Yard Building in Brooklyn, New York; and

  WHEREAS, Immigrating into the United States in  1972  from  Grenada,
WI,  Dr.    Roy  A.  Hastick,  Sr  has  worked  for  several years as an
administrator,   community   advocate,   entrepreneur,   and   newspaper
publisher; and

  WHEREAS,  In  1985,  Dr.  Roy  A.  Hastick, Sr founded the Caribbean
American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (CACCI) with 10 founding
members; over the years, CACCI has sustained and developed  its  mission
to  promote  economic  development  on  behalf  of  Caribbean Americans,
African Americans, women, and other minority entrepreneurs; and

  WHEREAS, As President and CEO of CACCI, Dr. Roy A. Hastick,  Sr  has
tirelessly  worked to develop a structure that serves the small business
community and fosters a climate  of  unity  and  harmony  among  diverse
cultures; and

  WHEREAS, A motivational speaker, Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr has convened
over  600  business  development  seminars that bring together the CACCI
membership with other entrepreneurs and the wider business community  to
network  and  access  business  resources,  to make contacts and explore
contracts; and

  WHEREAS, As an ardent supporter of Two-Way trade between the  United
States  and  the  Caribbean region, Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr as an elected
delegate  to  the  1995  White  House  Conference  on  Small   Business,
campaigned  and  was  successful  in  getting  Two-Way  trade  with  the
Caribbean region into the final recommendations that were  submitted  to
the United States Congress; and

  WHEREAS,  Through  his  tireless  efforts,  advocacy,  and visionary
leadership, Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr has led CACCI to  accomplish  several
challenging   initiatives  including  providing  weekly  small  business
clinics,  business  services  for  micro  enterprises,  small   business
development  networking  business seminars, workshops, and monthly power
breakfast meetings; and

  WHEREAS,  Dr.  Roy  A.  Hastick,  Sr  facilitated  providing   rapid
emergency  disaster  relief  in  response  to hurricane disasters in the

Caribbean region including such nations as: St. Kitts  Nevis,  Anguilla,
Antigua,  Barbuda,  Haiti,  Grenada,  Puerto  Rico,  Jamaica,  US Virgin
Islands, St.  Marteen, and the Dominican Republic; and

  WHEREAS,  The  launch  of  Drs.  Roy  & Eda Hastick Foundation is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its dedicated staff and volunteers,
whose  involvement  is,  and  always  has  been,  characterized  by   an
impressive  commitment,  an  unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf  of  the  organization
and the community it serves; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated  and  recognized  by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Drs. Roy & Eda Hastick Foundation upon the occasion  of  hosting
its  Celebrating  the Life of Dr. Roy A. Hastick event on July 13, 2023;
and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Drs. Roy & Eda Hastick Foundation.
