Senate Resolution No. 1127 BY: Senator COONEY COMMEMORATING the 150th Anniversary of Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to those organizations and individuals who would faithfully dedicate themselves to the care and protection of animals; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester; and WHEREAS, Established in 1873, Lollypop Farm is the largest animal welfare organization helping pets and people in the Greater Rochester area; and WHEREAS, Since its inception, Lollypop Farm has been committed to creating a just and compassionate world for all animals and has stayed true to its mission of joining with its community to better the lives of animals through justice, prevention and life-saving care; and WHEREAS, With a main campus located in Fairport, New York, and three other adoption centers throughout the community, this nonprofit organization provides shelter, care, and adoption for dogs, cats, small animals, birds, reptiles, horses, and other farm animals; and WHEREAS, In addition, Lollypop Farm offers educational events and camps for children grades second through ninth, as well as youth and teen volunteer programs; and WHEREAS, Lollypop Farm is also home to the Humane Law Enforcement Department and is SPCA designated to investigate and enforce animal cruelty laws in the State of New York; and WHEREAS, Every year, Lollypop Farm houses and cares for thousands of animals, from domestic pets to farm animals who are surrendered to them by residents and law enforcement; and thousands of adults and children experience a new way to live alongside animal friends in their community; and WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 150-year history, Lollypop Farm serving the Greater Rochester area has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities which it serves; and WHEREAS, The success of Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester is in direct correlation to the efforts of its staff, volunteers, and donors, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester.
