        CONGRATULATING  the  Section  III Girls Gymnastics
        Team upon the occasion  of  capturing  the  NYSPHSAA
        Girls Gymnastics Team Championship on March 4, 2023

  WHEREAS,  Individual  and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this  Legislative  Body  commends  rare  athletic
achievements  and  pays  special  recognition  to  those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

  WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both  the  moral  and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Section III Girls Gymnastics Team upon the occasion of  capturing  their
third   consecutive  NYSPHSAA  Girls  Gymnastics  Team  Championship  on
Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Kenmore West High  School  in  Buffalo,  New
York; and

  WHEREAS, The Section III Girls Gymnastics Team won the event with an
incredible score of 184.450, beating the second-place team by .5 points;
and

  WHEREAS,  The Section III Girls Gymnastics Team is comprised of nine
students, Grayson Gall, Hannah Hughes, Madison Scranton, Julia Makuszak,
Jayla Jordan, Antoinette Sakellariou, Payton Smith, Aubrey  Hughes,  and
Katie  DiStefano,  who  come  from  several  different high schools, New
Hartford, Sauquoit, Whitesboro, New York Mills, JDFM and Oriskany; and

  WHEREAS, The team's overall record is  outstanding;  throughout  the
season,  they  were  loyally  and  enthusiastically  supported  by their
families, teammates, friends and the community at large; and

  WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of  teamwork,  pride
and  accomplishment,  and  the  Section  III  Girls  Gymnastics Team has
clearly made a contribution to the  spirit  of  excellence  which  is  a
tradition of their schools; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Section III Girls Gymnastics Team upon the occasion  of
capturing  the 2022 NYSPHSAA Girls Gymnastics All Around Championship on
March 4, 2023; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That copies of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the members of the Section III Girls Gymnastics Team.
