Senate Resolution No. 479

        CONGRATULATING  Lea  Feiner  upon  the occasion of
        being one of the first females in Nassau County  Boy
        Scouts  of America to receive the distinguished rank
        of Eagle Scout, the  most  prestigious  of  Scouting
        honors

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body to commend
individuals of outstanding character,  who  have  shown  initiative  and
commitment  toward  constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves, and
acting as role models of leadership to be emulated by their peers; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
congratulate Lea Feiner upon the occasion of  being  one  of  the  first
females  in  the  Nassau  County  Boy  Scouts  of America to receive the
distinguished rank of Eagle Scout,  the  most  prestigious  of  Scouting
honors; and

  WHEREAS,  Lea  Feiner joined Venturing, a coed Boy Scout Program, at
just 14 years old and remains active in Crew 577 of Wantagh,  New  York;
and

  WHEREAS,  The  daughter  of  Jason  and Sonia Feiner, Lea joined BSA
Troop 186 at its inception and worked diligently to climb the ranks; she
obtained 22 merit badges to reach the rank of Eagle Scout; and

  WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory  through
the  dedication,  determination  and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and

  WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and

  WHEREAS, Lea Feiner is truly a trailblazer  and  serves  as  a  role
model for girls across her community who are seeking to break boundaries
and achieve their dreams; and

  WHEREAS,  For  her  project,  Lea Feiner created perches made out of
shelves and tires for the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter  in  Wantagh;
she  completed the challenging requirements on February 8, 2021, in less
than two years during an ongoing public health crisis; and

  WHEREAS, Prior to obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, Lea Feiner  was
also the recipient of a Girl Scouts Bronze Award, having joined when she
was  seven  years old; she also assisted at her brothers Scout meetings;
and

  WHEREAS, Lea Feiner is a freshman at Nassau Community College;  upon
obtaining  her  Associate  degree in Education, she plans to continue at
Queens College for her Master's in Education; and

  WHEREAS, Her perseverance in rising through the ranks to Eagle Scout
is a strong indication of her ability to  master  difficult  tasks;  her

accomplishment  will enable her to emerge as a leader, fully equipped to
meet the challenges of today's complex society; and

  WHEREAS, Lea Feiner's latest achievement marks a milestone for girls
and  women  in  the communities all across the State, and truly embodies
what it means to shatter the glass ceiling; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations,  in
recognition  of  the  significance  of  this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor Lea Feiner on being one of the first  females  in
the  Nassau  County  of the Boy Scouts of America to achieve the rank of
Eagle Scout; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Lea Feiner.
