Senate Resolution No. 417 BY: Senator PARKER MOURNING the death of Lincoln V. Mayers, astute businessman, family man and devoted member of his community WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to citizens of the Empire State whose lifework and civic endeavor served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great State of New York; and WHEREAS, Lincoln V. Mayers died on Friday, January 8, 2021, at the age of 74; and WHEREAS, Lincoln V. Mayers was born to the late Arch Abbess Marjorie and George Mayers on July 27, 1946, in Port of Spain, Trinidad; in the winter of 1972, he migrated to the United States where he settled in Brooklyn, New York, and took a job at the Domino Sugar Factory; and WHEREAS, After five years, Lincoln V. Mayers relocated to Houston, Texas, where he worked in construction and purchased his first taxi, igniting his entrepreneurial spirit, becoming involved with various endeavors such as throwing parties, driving a limousine, and starting a chicken business; and WHEREAS, Through his hobby as a successful Dee Jay, Lincoln V. Mayers was dubbed "Soca Link" and was popular for his tag line "One Link, One Love"; his music and zest for life was inspired by his deep appreciation of his Trinidadian and Tobagonian culture; and WHEREAS, Lincoln V. Mayers was always smiling and made many friends throughout his beautiful life; his loud, distinctive voice and joyful spirit naturally helped to bring people together, and his compassionate, giving heart gave freely to those in need; and WHEREAS, Above all, Lincoln V. Mayers loved spending time with his cherished family, who motivated him to live to the fullest each and every day; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of compassion, Lincoln V. Mayers leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Lincoln V. Mayers, astute businessman, family man and devoted member of his community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Lincoln V. Mayers.
