Senate Resolution No. 325 BY: Senator HARCKHAM CONGRATULATING the Somers High School Varsity Football Team upon the occasion of capturing the 2022 NYSPHSAA Football Class A Championship on December 3, 2022 WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the Somers High School Varsity Football Team upon the occasion of capturing the 2022 NYSPHSAA Football Class A Championship; and WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the number one ranked Tuskers defeated number four ranked Union-Endicott High School in a decisive 58-21 victory to capture the Championship on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York; and WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of black, red and white, family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically supported the Tuskers throughout their journey as they ended their season with an impressive 13-0 overall record; and WHEREAS, In a sport such as football, which demands athletic prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Anthony DeMatteo and Assistant Coaches Doug Packard, Michael Cleary, Mike Sokolofsky, and Doug Carpenter have worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team, teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the field; and WHEREAS, Head Coach Anthony DeMatteo and all of the outstanding athletes on the Somers High School Varsity Football Team have clearly utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate the members of the Somers High School Varsity Football Team: Mike Aquilino, Mac Sullivan, Ravi Dass, Stefan Swee, Luke Kennedy, Luke Savino, Mike Keane, Tyler Ostrander, Bret Kennedy, Matt Fitzsimons, Jason Ferrara, James Balancia, Miguel Iglesias, John Clark, Nick Sylvester, Nick Conti, Will Marcus, Luca Ploger, Charles Lewis, Nick Newman, Peyton Linares, Ryan Brush, Peter McIntyre, Dean Barlanti, Andrew Violante, Matt Connelly, Jacob Solimine, Logan Ruby, Landon Pepe, Tommy Hauser, Jacob Hauser, Jackson Forsberg, Patrick Mullins, Zach Zampaglione, Tommy O'Connor, John Penzo, Aidan Coolican, Mason Kelly, Ryan Cole, Tim Monahan, George Forbes, Julian Chidester, Anthony Carino, Matt Klee, David Jocson, Bryce Vera, Giuseppe Gioffre, Michael Graziano, Pat Carino, Ben Harris, Grayden Carr, Chris Luks, Mario Mancini, Justin Hidalgo, JP Hurley, Isaac Like, Peter Lewis, Anthony Lopano, Luke Duffy, Jake Polito, Liam Ferretti, Nicky Crecco, Timmy Azimi, Teddy Mitchell, Andrew Milani, Dean Palazzolo, Nick Maurantonio, Nate Mitchell, Andrew Kapica, Matt Mayfield, Dillon Kuchinsky, Teddy McGrane, and Curtis Dustin; Head Coach Anthony DeMatteo; and Assistant Coaches Doug Packard, Michael Cleary, Mike Sokolofsky, and Doug Carpenter upon the occasion of capturing the 2022 NYSPHSAA Football Class A Championship on December 3, 2022; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the members of the Somers High School Varsity Football Team, Head Coach Anthony DeMatteo, and Assistant Coaches Doug Packard, Michael Cleary, Mike Sokolofsky and Doug Carpenter.
