        COMMEMORATING the 95th Anniversary of Sacred Heart
        of Jesus-Holy Cross, Polish National Catholic Church
        in New York Mills, New York

  WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social, and
educational  benefits  they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and

  WHEREAS, It is the tradition of the State of New York to pay tribute
to those institutions  and  individuals  who  have  contributed  to  the
ethical values of their communities; and

  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative Body takes pleasure in commemorating the
95th Anniversary of Sacred Heart of Jesus-Holy  Cross,  Polish  National
Catholic  Church,  to be celebrated at a banquet on Sunday, September 9,
2018, at the Roselawn Restaurant in New York Mills, New York; and

  WHEREAS, Prior to this special event,  The  Right  Reverend  Bernard
Nowicki, Bishop of the Central Diocese, will administer the Sacrament of
Confirmation  to six young parishioners during a Thanksgiving Holy Mass;
and

  WHEREAS, In addition, A Memoriam Plaque will be initiated to connect
the past and the present members of Sacred Heart  of  Jesus-Holy  Cross,
Polish National Catholic Church (PNCC); and

  WHEREAS,  Both  the Sacred Heart of Jesus PNCC in New York Mills and
the Holy Cross PNCC of Utica, New York, held  their  first  services  in
January of 1923; and

  WHEREAS,  On April 5, 1987, over six decades later, the two churches
merged together and became one undivided church community; and

  WHEREAS, The Sacred Heart of Jesus-Holy Cross, PNCC  stands  on  the
threshold  of  tomorrow,  prepared  to meet the challenges of the coming
decades, while retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes  its
past; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such  institutions  to  the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 95th Anniversary of Sacred Heart  of  Jesus-Holy  Cross,
Polish  National  Catholic Church in New York Mills, New York, confident
that this commemoration  reflects  the  belief  in  those  values  which
enhance the dignity and purpose of life; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Very Reverend Walter M. Madej, Pastor,  Sacred  Heart
of Jesus-Holy Cross, Polish National Catholic Church.
