Senate Resolution No. 162

        HONORING Dr. George Kalonaros upon the occasion of
        his  designation  as  recipient  of  the Sister Mary
        Mechtilde  Memorial  Award  by  the  Kenmore   Mercy
        Foundation on November 16, 2018

  WHEREAS,  It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay  tribute  to  those  individuals  within  the  medical   field   who
distinguish themselves through professional excellence and who have made
significant  contributions  to  the  quality  of life of citizens in the
State of New York; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr.  George  Kalonaros upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Sister  Mary  Mechtilde  Memorial  Award  by  the  Kenmore  Mercy
Foundation,  celebrated  at  its  A  Tribute  to Angels Event on Friday,
November 16, 2018, at Salvatore's  Italian  Gardens  in  Lancaster,  New
York; and

  WHEREAS,  The  Kenmore  Mercy  Foundation  raises funds from friends
across the community who wish  to  support  the  hospital's  mission  of
providing  compassionate healthcare to the residents of Erie County, New
York; and

  WHEREAS, Each year, the Sister  Mary  Mechtilde  Memorial  Award  is
given  to  an  individual  who  personifies  the philanthropic ideals of
Sister Mary Mechtilde O'Connor, Kenmore  Mercy  Hospital's  founder  and
first administrator; and

  WHEREAS,  A  neurologist  and  director  of Kenmore Mercy Hospital's
award-winning stroke program, Dr. George Kalonaros is truly deserving of
this prestigious award for his steadfast and unremitting  commitment  to
his  patients  and for his exceptional contributions to the hospital and
to the community as a whole; and

  WHEREAS,  In  the   faithful   performance   of   his   duties   and
responsibilities,  Dr.  George  Kalonaros'  ongoing  efforts and notable
achievements have significantly contributed to bettering the quality  of
life in his community; and

  WHEREAS,  Throughout  his  tenure,  he  has  continuously  displayed
initiative and an unrelenting commitment when pursuing  the  highest  of
goals, and he has served as a role model of leadership to be emulated by
all; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. George Kalonaros upon  the  occasion  of  his  designation  as
recipient  of  the  Sister  Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award by the Kenmore
Mercy Foundation on November 16, 2018; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Dr. George Kalonaros.
