Senate Resolution No. 49 BY: Senator GRIFFO HONORING Robert Bauer Sr. upon the occasion of his designation as Guest of Honor at the Four Acres Rockin' for the Vets Benefit on August 13, 2022 WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert Bauer Sr. upon the occasion of his designation as Guest of Honor at the Four Acres Rockin' for the Vets Benefit on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Utica Maennerchor, Marcy, New York; and WHEREAS, Born on September 13, 1942, Robert Bauer Sr., affectionately known as Bob, purchased Four Acres in 1968, and began renovation plans when he received his draft notice; and WHEREAS, Robert Bauer Sr. valiantly served his country as a Combat Infantryman in the United States Army from November 12, 1968 to July 9, 1970; and WHEREAS, During this time, Robert Bauer Sr. directed the renovations of Four Acres from 7,000 miles away between combat patrols, mailing home notes, blueprints and dozens of cassette audio tapes with his plans; and WHEREAS, For his courageous service during the Vietnam War, Robert Bauer Sr. was honorably discharged and awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal and the Air Medal; and WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service, Robert Bauer Sr. resumed operations of Four Acres and turned it into the premier live music venue in the Mohawk Valley, bringing in renowned national recording artists including John Cougar Mellencamp, Eddie Money, the Ramones, Nick Gilder, and Head East, as well as local favorites such as Todd Hobin, Paul Coleman, Tommy Acee, Preacher, Beckin, Keel the Puppet, Alecstar, the Dust Devil Band, Justice McBride and many more; and WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his community, Robert Bauer Sr. has given generously to countless local charities, including Operation Sunshine, March of Dimes, the Salvation Army, Muscular Dystrophy, and Whitesboro Athletic Fields; and WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who risked their lives for their beloved Nation; and WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad, Robert Bauer Sr. demonstrated his love for his country and merits forevermore the highest respect of his State and Nation; and WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Robert Bauer Sr. upon the occasion of his designation as Guest of Honor at the Four Acres Rockin' for the Vets Benefit on August 13, 2022; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Robert Bauer Sr.
