       AN ACT to amend the workers'  compensation  law,  in  relation  to  time
         frames  for certain hearings; and to repeal subdivision 2-b of section
         25 of the workers' compensation law, relating to conciliation
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Paragraph (b) of subdivision 3 of section 25 of the work-
    2  ers' compensation law, as amended by chapter 61 of the laws of 1986,  is
    3  amended to read as follows:
    4    (b)  Nothing herein shall limit the right of the board in a particular
    5  case to hold a hearing and  make  an  award  in  accordance  with  other
    6  provisions  of  this  chapter. No case shall be closed without notice to
    7  all parties interested and without giving to all such parties an  oppor-
    8  tunity  to  be heard.  A HEARING SHALL BE HELD BEFORE A WORKERS' COMPEN-
    9  SATION LAW JUDGE WITHIN TWENTY DAYS FROM THE FILING  OF  AN  APPLICATION
   10  FOR  HEARING ACCOMPANIED BY SUPPORTING EVIDENCE MADE BY ANY PARTY IN ANY
   11  CASE, EXCEPT A CASE BEING INITIALLY CONTROVERTED.
   12    S 2. Subdivision 2-b of section 25 of the workers' compensation law is
   13  REPEALED.
   14    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
