          tee on Health
        AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring maternal
          depression screenings for pregnant women
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 2500-k of the public health law is
     2  renumbered  subdivision  4  and  a new subdivision 3 is added to read as
     3  follows:
     4    3. Maternal depression screening. Every maternal health care  provider
     5  attending  pregnant  women  in  the  state  shall screen, or cause to be
     6  screened, every pregnant woman so attended for  maternal  depression  at
     7  intervals to be determined by the commissioner.
     8    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
     9  have become a law.
